In Which Your Friendly Correspondent Had An Awkward Moment

So I was in a theater lobby last night, waiting quietly in a corner to talk to some folks I knew. I moved corners every few minutes, so as not to look like the enormous introvert-slash-wallflower that I am.
And yet I kept finding myself near a tallish, handsome, impeccably dressed fellow I was absolutely sure I knew.
“D.C.-based actor I haven’t seen in a while,” I wondered?
“Major donor I’ve flirted with at some gala or another?”
“Scruff-y handsome gentleman I’ve faved and chatted with, but haven’t met in person?”
These are the things that run through one’s mind.
If one is a 55-year-old semiretired theater critic. And congenitally bent.
Obviously, I kept glancing at him.
