Oh Hey, Dixie’s (Still) Doing D.C.
Look, I’ll get into why it’s been a minute in, er, a minute, but for now please note that you have five (5) more days before Dixie Longate decamps from the District for the next stop on her tour.
What, you haven’t heard about Dixie? Bless your heart and how dare you.
Why Yes, That Was a Link to Something I Wrote
Here’s another one, which is also about big hair but in a different way. You can also still see that show through July 7 or so.
Like I said, it’s been a minute since I’ve had anything to share here, and this is why: I’ve been writing a bit elsewhere, and that-plus-you-know- life has been keeping me away from the stacks.
No Really I’ve Been Kinda Busy
Because sometimes the job is about more than just seeing a show, y’know. Sometimes you have to go back and remember a whole other show that you saw a whole other time, maybe re-read it (thanks for the script, KD!), maybe listen to an audio-theater version, all just to prep. But then you get to write about Nancy Robinette, which is generally worth the bother. (She’s onstage through June 16.)
When I’m Not Seeing Theater I’m …
Watching ‘Hacks,’ which a clever friend recently pooh-poohed with a line about not needing to spend any more time with disagreeable people than he already does. (I felt attacked, I tell you.) But to each his own, and also he is very wrong, as Jean Smart would probably tell him if she weren’t busy living her best damn life.
And I do have more to tell you, but …
This is going out in time for your Wednesday morning bagel if it kills me, so y’all stand by. I have thoughts on at least two more things I’ve seen recently — including some stuff I haven’t written about and some other stuff that didn’t fit into my most recent review — and I swear I’mma try to share said thoughts before the week is out.
Meanwhile enjoy.
